Our indoor garden.
![]()
We have our equipment set up and have a number of students who will be starting to sow their seeds as early as next week. Students are enthusiastic and excitied. Some are thinking of which flowers they will start as potted flowers make wonderful Christmas gifts. Teachers will be making curriculum connections through LGT and parents have an opportunity to become involved and volunteer. We are excited and looking forward to sowing next week. Our parent volunteer Coreen Whitford has joined LGT and will also be maintaining and making entries for the LGT web site for Cando Community School.

Students have now planted their seeds.
Our worms have survived the summer!! They were in a LARGE containter filled with the leafy garden plants from last year’s growth. We tucked the container away in a storage room. After checking them during the first week of school, we saw that the plant material was all eaten and the soil moist and rich. One of our first school snacks was bananas, therefore many banana peels. What a delightful treat for our worms after no fresh food for 10 weeks!
We will soon be ready to harvest the soil and start planting our new garden.
